As an ever-expanding Research Group we are always seeking to work with brilliant researchers from across the word. Some ideas for independent funding are summarised below, but new opportunities rise continuously. Therefore, potential PhD students, Postdoctoral Researchers and visiting scientists are highly encouraged to contact Prof. Gobbo to discuss possibilities and research proposals.

Students of the University of Trieste:

We are currently accepting students for experimental theses both for Laurea Triennale and Laurea Magistrale in Chemistry. If you are interested in joining the Gobbo Group please contact Prof. Gobbo directly.

EU Erasmus+ Programme:

If you are an EU student willing to join us for a short period to carry out a collaborative research project, please contact Prof. Gobbo directly.
If you are a student of the University of Trieste and would like to apply for the Erasmus+ programme to carry out a short experience abroad, please discuss opportunities for international collaborations with Prof. Gobbo.

Visiting students and researchers:

Visitors from Canada: The Mitacs-UKRI scheme is providing opportunities for 
undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows to join research group at a UK University for a period of 12–24 weeks. Please see Globalink Research Award and Accelerate International.

PhD candidates:

EU/UK students: Please contact Prof. Gobbo if you have obtained a first-class M.Sci (or equivalent) degree, or are expecting to graduate before the start of the academic year in October each year to discuss available funding opportunities. Please provide a CV and two letters of reference.

Post-doctoral fellows:

Applying for funds – at any time:
If you are interested in joining the Gobbo Group by applying to a local government scheme in your Country, please contact Prof. Gobbo well in advance of the deadline with details of your intended application, your CV and two reference letters.

Marie Curie Fellowship:
Deadline is usually in October. Please contact Prof. Gobbo at the beginning of the summer to enquire about the possibility to be hosted as a Marie Curie Fellow and develop a research proposal. Prof. Gobbo is a former Marie Curie Fellow and will advise you on how to write a successful application. Please see here for more information.
Please note that you are not allowed to have spent more than 1 year in the last 3 years (before the application deadline) in the UK to be able to apply.

NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship:
This Fellowship Fellowships is for Canadian Citizens and permanent resident of Canada and provides salary for 2 years of research. Application deadline is in October, therefore please contact Prof. Gobbo in May-June to develop a research proposal. Please see here for more information.

Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship: 
The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships is for Canadian Citizens and permanent resident of Canada program provides 2-year funding to the very best postdoctoral Canadian applicants, who will positively contribute to Canada’s economic, social and research-based growth. Application deadline is in September, therefore please contact Prof. Gobbo in May-June to develop a research proposal. Please see here for more information.

EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships:
The EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships are awarded for a period of up to two years and support excellent postdoctoral researchers in laboratories throughout Europe and the world. International exchange is a key requirement. Please see here for more information.
